About Us
N.O.I. Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to fostering the study of the Italian language at ages K-12, and to the promotion of the Italian culture within Detroit Italian Consular Jurisdiction, by exposing children and young adults to the Italian language and the finest traditions of Italian culture.
A well-rounded education and proficient Italian language skills amplify future professional and academic opportunities for our students in a variety of fields/endeavors, from education to computer programming to public relations, journalism, web design, graphic design, hospitality, food, and food services, scientific endeavors, music, cinema, and diplomacy, to name a few.
The main thrust in the formation of the N.O.I is a need to introduce, and in some cases re-introduce, the Italian Language as part of a regular curriculum of studies. Foundation. Since its inception, N.O.I. has been organized internally by forming a Board of Directors comprising esteemed and respected businesspeople, educators, and professionals from the surrounding communities. Furthermore, N.O.I. has retained the services of an Educational Director who oversees the day-to-day operations and implementations of programs in various schools within the five states of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky, which are part of the Jurisdiction of the Consulate of Italy in Detroit. In addition to supporting existing programs, over the past few years, N.O.I. has increased the number of new students enrolled in Italian classes and currently supports or sponsors more than 2,500 students. Additionally, NOI is currently collaborating with other schools to offer additional programs.
